Background Information

This University of South Carolina offers a Masters in Educational Technology Program. One of the required courses is EDET 650: Internship in Educational Technology. The course gives students the opportunity to apply what they have learned. In the process, the students are able to help the community through a semi-independent internship that applies the principles of instructional design and development. Most importantly, the interns are following a service learning model that will have a positive impact on the community and organization that will last beyond the internship experience.
One of the interns has agreed to do her internship with the Lamar Branch of the Darlington County Library System. Tutoring and homework help will be provided to students after school from Monday-Thursday. Computer assistance for adults will also be available for adults on those days. In addition, this website is created to benefit those who seek help at the Lamar Library, as well as the others who live in the Town of Lamar and the surrounding communities.
"The goal of education is not to increase the amount of knowledge but to create the possibilities for a child to invent and discover, to create men who are capable of doing new things."
